Kirsty McWilliam is the founder of Coaching Direct. She is joined by Kitty Gordon who is the Development Partner, Susan McDonald who is Head of Training and both join her as Coach trainers in the UK. Across Asia, she is joined by Jane Farrelly (Dubai) and Shirley Adrain (Hong Kong). They all have a great team of associates who deliver coaching and EQ-12.0 feedback. Their main focus has been on coaching, coach training and supervising new coaches to achieve accreditation and has now specialised in emotional intelligence.
They are committed to developing meaningful, long-term relationships and creating inspirational development solutions which unleash potential in individuals and businesses alike.
Kirsty McWilliam (Accredited Coach, AC & Accountant, ACCA)
Kirsty is an accredited coach, coach supervisor & trainer. Kirsty runs a recognised coach training programmes alongside supervising coaches to gain their own accreditation. She also works on 1-2-1 basis, coaching clients from the Finance sector, NHS, Education Department and various private organisations. Kirsty also offers 1-2-1 coaching for SME’s alongside accountancy support.
Kirsty set up Coaching Direct in 2007 after a career as a chartered accountant, working with 2 of the Big ‘4’ accountancy firms, specialising in corporate recovery. This had led her to work with a broad range of businesses from SMEs to PLCs and reporting to various stakeholders, normally under tight deadlines and managing internal and external teams. Kirsty’s interest moved from managing change in a business to enabling change in individuals, and so, Coaching Direct was born!
Kirsty’s coaching style is direct, focused and empathetic. Her clients have described her as honest, focused and motivational and say that her approachable manner ensures the coaching partnership is one that works.
Kirsty’s passion is to use coaching to maximise the potential in businesses and individuals alike.
Kitty Gordon is a qualified Coach, Facilitator and EQi 2.0 Assessor. She has worked within public and private sectors, in particular with the City of Edinburgh Council (CEC) where she heads up the Internal Coaching Bank, and facilitates the coach specific training among other leadership programmes. She has also done extensive work in the voluntary sector including facilitating organisational restructuring, management and leadership training, mentoring programmes and coaching support. Additionally she works as an Associate Lecturer with Queen Margaret University on the MSc in Public Services Leadership. She has a passion for working with people in a business and workplace environment.
In her work with the Association for Coaching (AC) she is Lead on Course Accreditation.
In her spare time, Kitty does a lot of creative work, and loves to head back to Orkney where her family live.
Susan McDonald is passionate about developing people and gets a real buzz out of seeing people grow and develop – within the learning sense!!
She is very engaging and has an ability to connect with people at different levels. Susan believes in finding practical ways to meet training solutions which ensures the learning is transferred back to the workplace. Evaluation and follow up is seen as a priority also.
Susan is an experienced Learning and Development Professional with over 20 years’ experience as a Learning and Development Manager within the John Lewis Partnership. Her expertise gained over that period of time in design, delivery and evaluation has resulted in an individual who is able to take that skill and knowledge and apply it to meet training needs in a variety of businesses.
Recent successes within John Lewis include:
- Created and delivered training courses including Leadership Skills, Problem Solving, Performance Management to all Managers and Senior Management team.
- Responsible for upskilling 40 employees on the customer experience within on-line operations. (+29% rise in compliments and -33% reduction in complaints.)
- Created and fully facilitated outdoor teambuilding exercise delivered to over 130 employees.
- Successfully supported 140 employees through large scale organisational restructure, using change management workshops and individual coaching.
Susan joined Coaching Direct in the Summer of 2014 as Head of Training. Responsibilities are to manage and co-deliver our 5 day Accredited Award in Coaching Programme, be part of our Executive Coaching Bank and design and deliver our Management Development courses ranging from Leading and Managing change, Coaching Skills, Management Development, Assertiveness, Time Management and Customer Experience.
Jane Farrelly – Dubai
Jane has an extensive 25 year career history in the hotel industry with a strong emphasis on financial and operational management. As a General Manager she was instrumental in the strategic direction of the re-development and launching of two hotels, one for a large national chain and one for a small independent hotel company. She was Financial Director and later Managing Director of the award winning Hope Street Hotel, Liverpool .
During her hotel career she coached and mentored employees at all levels and was involved as a Coach & Mentor, in a project with Women 1st, an initiative developed by People 1st, the Sector Skills Council for hospitality, tourism, leisure and travel in the UK. The project was to motivate, support and encourage more women to progress into senior management positions within these industries.
In 2010 she embarked on AC & ICF accredited Coach Training and launched her own Coaching company in the UK before relocating to Dubai in 2012.
In Dubai, Jane has set up the Coaching Direct Coach Training programme and is key to securing clients and building sustainable coaching solutions in Dubai.
Jane’s coaching style is calm, motivating, supportive and warm. Her clients have described her as a caring professional, focused in her approach and has a good sense of humour.
Jane is a member of the Association for Coaching and is the Moderator of the AC (UAE) LinkedIn Group. Jane’s passion is to deliver and promote coaching throughout Middle East & Asia and build great relationships.
Shirley Adrain – Hong Kong
Shirley is an AC Accredited Executive Coach, trainer and NLP Business Practitioner. She has been coaching financial executives since 2006. She has over 20 years experience in Investment Banking, having held senior leadership positions in the UK, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong. During her banking career, Shirley both engaged coaches and received coach training, which helped her implement a culture of coaching and develop leaders within her organization. She is experienced in coaching MD’s, Directors and more junior bankers, both locally and globally using video-conferencing. She has also designed and implemented several international leadership development programmes and a Global Career Framework, and completed Train the Trainer training in 2004.
In 2012, she decided to change career and become formally certified as a coach. She completed the Coaching Direct Multidisciplinary Coaching training and, with over 300 hours of coaching experience, became a fully certified Executive Coach. This had led Shirley to share her passion for coaching as a coach trainer.
With an MA in psychology, Shirley focuses on supporting clients to change patterns of behaviour, which are preventing them from moving forward in their careers. She uses a mix of traditional coaching, NLP and Clean Coaching. She is currently working with young leaders and entrepreneurs across Asia in addition to financial executives in Hong Kong.
